Announcing Our Royal Patron

Today, HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO becomes the Royal Patron of the Awareness Foundation. The announcement comes as the Awareness Foundation begins its 2017 programme that enables young Syrians and Iraqis to become Ambassadors for Peace in their war-torn countries.

The Revd Nadim Nassar, Director of the Awareness Foundation, said: “It is a truly great honour to welcome Her Royal Highness as our Royal Patron and we look forward to sharing our many exciting plans for a future in which the Awareness Foundation plays a vital role in encouraging peacebuilding and reconciliation, both in the Middle East and in the West.”

The Awareness Foundation works to empower Christians everywhere to become peacemakers and reconcilers in their communities. Their central programmes are ‘Ambassadors for Peace’ and ‘Little Heroes’, which enable young people and displaced children in Syria and Iraq to develop a positive outlook and work to reconcile and to rebuild trust in their shattered communities, and ‘PAX’, a growing online video library that brings faith back into everyday life and demonstrates that faith should be an agent of peace.

Notes for Press:
