Who We Are
The Awareness Foundation was founded in 2003 by The Revd Nadim Nassar. The Foundation, a registered charity in England & Wales (No 1099873), is an international humanitarian charity driven by Christian values which builds peace through education and training. Our two core programmes, LITTLE HEROES and AMBASSADORS FOR PEACE, aim to equip and empower children and young people in Syria and Iraq to become agents of peace and reconciliation.
Our objectives are to:
-
help children in Syria to regain hope and become accepting of others;
-
empower children and young people in Syria and Iraq to promote peace and reconciliation[n1] ;
-
build partnerships between people of different faiths and different religious denominations;
-
enable people to live generous, hospitable and peaceful lives and to promote peace and reconciliation; and
-
build understanding between the West and the Middle East.
We are active in the UK, North America (USA and Canada), the Middle East (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine), and in Hong Kong. We work with all Christian denominations, and we partner with many other faith organisations and leaders.
Founded in London in 2003 by The Revd Nadim Nassar, we have evolved as an international Christian educational charity, offering a wide range of programmes all over the world in diverse venues including churches, universities, community centres and prisons.

Our Mission Statement
Deepening faith, building peace, living and demonstrating God's generous love.
Our Values Statement
Empowering people of faith to embrace diversity and build peaceful and harmonious communities.
We want to equip Christians everywhere to form an effective counter force to the intolerance and mistrust that now prevail in so many communities, and to build understanding between the faiths.
"But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defence to anyone who demands from you an account of the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence." (1 Peter 3:15-16a)
